You can take the lass out of Yorkshire but you can't take Yorkshire out of the lass...
I've moved halfway around the World on the risk of a lifetime to do what I could only imagine ever doing, or what I only imagine other people get the chance to do. Instead of standing on terra firma in good old Blighty I've opted to stand on the other side and be "the different one" - something I've been terrified of all my life. You'd expect this chance to be taken by some huge go-getter who never takes no for an answer, admires famous explorers, always has dreams beyond the landscape of which they see and reaches for the stars! I am the complete opposite.
I like quiet. I like what I know and who I know. I am at my most comfortable and happy when with my family or small circle of close friends. I'm independent in that I can look after myself and like to earn my own money to treat myself and those I care about. Why then would I quit my job, say ta-ra to my family and friends and come all this way to a city I didn't even know existed until 1 month before I flew over to live here? It's reckless, adventurous, foolhardy, rash..... In short, not me. I'm your classic home girl, I like to be close to my family, I like knowing the names of streets and how to get places, I like routine and order and lists!
I also like writing letters the old fashioned way by sending them through the post instead of clicking Send, I like drinking wine whilst reading a good book, I like the idea of being wrapped in a blanket and falling asleep on a rocking chair in front of a real fire, I like being affectionate and I like when someone shows their affection back just because they feel like it, I like knowing I've given somebody a gift they will really love, I like chocolate biscuits equally as much as I'd like to have a perfect hourglass figure, I like that the chocolate biscuits usually win, I like to wake up with something to look forward too and I like going to sleep knowing I did something worth remembering.
